About Spam & E-mail: To better understand, please read this page carefully.

Recent activities from people who are not affiliated with Voyager Info-Systems has prompted this information.

People have falsely/mistakenly placed "voyager.com" in the return address of their outgoing e-mails. However, Voyager Info-Systems (www.voyager.com) does not provide E-mail services, and these people are not using our systems. People can set any 'From:' address they want in an e-mail.

These sites explain how to see the full e-mail header:

  • http://helpdesk.rootsweb.com/listadmins/headersfull.html

Voyager Info-Systems (www.voyager.com) does not provide ISP services such as e-mail, dial-up accounts, etc. We are not to be confused with other companies who have provided the same service, but with variation on the name (such as voyager.net).

Because we do not provide e-mail accounts, noone can send spam originating from us, but they are most-likely merely using "@voyager.com" in their return address, possibly intentionally, or possibly by mistake. Anyone can place anything they want as their return address--yet still use their normal e-mail provider.

Because they are not using our services, their e-mail addresses are invalid-- they do not have accounts with us.

We understand that people have mistakenly used our address instead of their proper address, or send out spam with false return-addresses. These people are not using our services, nor systems, neither directly nor indirectly--they are mistakenly putting "voyager.com" in their e-mail programs.

Viewing the other information in an e-mail:

The header of an e-mail contains more information than your e-mail program normally would view. One of the headers is the "Received:" header, to which each e-mail server usually adds its own hostname. It is therefore possible to see which system someone used to send e-mail by viewing this information. Each e-mail program has its own way to view this information, and some may not allow it at all. You may visit the links at the top of this page to find out how to view an e-mail's full header.
